120 Days

Saw an excellent mind-blowing concert yesterday, Norwegian 120 Days at Vega. Their music can best described as a mix of Happy Mondays, Kraftwerk and Joy Division on mushrooms. Very psychedelic, post rockish, droning electro-rock. Excellent stuff. I've been listening quite a lot to the album, but they really gain a lot live.

Their line-up is as follows: drummer/computers, singer/guitarist/keyboards, bass, computers. It wasn't like they just started a program of beats, and just fiddled a little with the sound, using old analogue drum machines they constantly had to add and remove loops making a very organic show, despite the mainly electronic sound.

The stage was dense with smoke and stroboscopic light, this combined with the long drones they employd, made for a very transcendental experience, where you'd forget time and place and only be conscious of the clothes rattling beats pumping through your body. The lead singer was an excellent performer, wriggling around on stage and stepping out among the audience like an electric Jim Morrison, and has a great rock voice.

It was just a fantastic concert, the best of '07 so far.

Oh, and riding handlebars on a bike is a rave! Kinda like skydiving I'd imagine, thanks Niklas.
